Dr. William BaDr. William Ballantyne graduated with a Master of Arts in Clinical Practices degree from the University of Hartford. Following his clinical consultation and program design work for the Yale University Psychoeducation Clinic, the Connecticut Department of Children, Youth and Families, and the Educational Community, he returned to his native Vermont, where he focused on his private practice of psychology. He then pursued his Doctor of Psychology degree (Psy.D.) at Antioch University New England.llantyne graduated with a Master of Arts in Clinical Practices degree from the University of Hartford. Dr. Ballantyne’s doctoral dissertation is titled A Cognitive Coping Model to Explain the Victim-to-Offender Phenomenon in the Sexual Abuse of Males. For this contribution to the field of psychology, which pioneered a new way of understanding sexual victimology, Dr. Ballantyne received the Graduate Student of the Year Award from the New Hampshire Psychological Association.
Dr. Ballantyne is a licensed psychologist in Vermont and in New Hampshire. He is an Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. For many years he provided clinical supervision and advanced training to pre-doctoral and post-doctoral trainees in psychology. Currently, he offers advanced training about sexualized youth to interns and residents in Child Psychiatry.
Dr. Ballantyne has received advanced training in cognitive behavioral therapy approaches, including certification in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy from the Institute of Rational Living. More recently, Dr. Ballantyne received advanced training in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder with Trauma Focused CBT.
Early in his career, Dr. Ballantyne established a specialty in the evaluation and treatment of juveniles with sexual behavior problems. As a result of his extensive experience and expertise in this unique clinical area, he has lectured professional and lay audiences throughout New England.

- juvenile probation

A significant source of his experience has come from leading treatment groups for adolescents who engaged in harmful sexual behaviors, an activity he carried out for twenty-five years.Dr. Ballantyne maintains several organizational memberships including the American Psychological Association and the Vermont Psychological Association.
Among Dr. Ballantyne’s avocational pursuits is the creation of unique sculptures from metal. Several of his sculptures are shown throughout this website.
